Petrol Supply Boom Expected Nationwide

Petrol Supply Set to Increase as New Shipments Arrive in Nigeria

Nigeria’s petrol supply is expected to improve significantly following the arrival of new shipments at the country’s major ports. According to data from Petroleum Price, several vessels carrying petrol and diesel have berthed at the Lagos and Port Harcourt terminals, increasing the supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

Between November 10 and 11, 2025, Techno Oil, Ardova, AA Rano, and MOCoh maintained active berthing schedules, ensuring a steady supply of PMS and AGO. The vessels, including OLUWAJUWONLO, LAUSU, and SL AREMU, carried a total of over 63,000 metric tons of petrol. Additionally, the GOLDEN JASMINE vessel arrived at the Port Harcourt terminal, carrying 10,301 metric tons of AGO.

The consistent vessel traffic reflects the effective coordination between private depots and the Dangote Refinery’s supply pipeline. This synergy has allowed for faster product turnaround and improved distribution efficiency, despite exchange rate fluctuations and freight cost pressures.

In a related development, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the ex-depot price of petrol by ₦49 per liter, from ₦877 to ₦828. This price cut, which represents a 5.6% decrease, is the refinery’s second major adjustment in three months. The reduction is expected to stabilize domestic supply and make local refining more competitive, especially with the federal government’s 15% import tariff on refined fuel.

The increased supply and reduced prices are expected to benefit consumers and support the country’s economic growth. As the demand for petrol is expected to increase towards the end of the year, the arrival of new shipments and the price cut are timely interventions to prevent shortages and price hikes. With the Dangote Refinery continuing to support independent marketers with refined cargoes, the outlook for Nigeria’s petrol supply remains positive.
