Tinubu assures Nigerians of economic recovery

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country will overcome its current economic challenges. Speaking at the Nigerian Guild of Editors Conference in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that poverty will not define Nigeria’s future. He stated, “We may be poor; poverty is not going to be our milestone. We are going to come out of it.”

Tinubu explained that his administration’s reforms, although challenging, are aimed at placing the economy on a strong and enduring footing. He highlighted the government’s commitment to securing the nation, sustaining economic stability, and widening opportunities for all citizens. The President noted that the reforms have led to visible progress in several sectors, but acknowledged that more work needs to be done to translate growth into real improvements in the daily lives of Nigerians.

The President emphasized the importance of cooperation and trust among stakeholders, including the media, in building the country. He urged the media to play a responsible role in shaping a climate of reason and unity, stating, “Nation-building requires cooperation… The media has a distinct responsibility to help shape a climate of reason and unity.” Tinubu called on the media to exercise this responsibility with seriousness and honor, promoting clarity, responsibility, and hope.

Tinubu also urged Nigerians to support the country’s armed forces, who put their lives on the line to defend the nation’s sovereignty. He acknowledged the challenges posed by terrorism and banditry, but emphasized the need to inspire and encourage the military in their efforts.

The President’s remarks come as Nigeria continues to grapple with economic and security challenges. The government’s efforts to restore macroeconomic balance, encourage investment, and rebuild confidence are ongoing. With the media and other stakeholders playing a crucial role in promoting unity and cooperation, Tinubu’s administration remains focused on ensuring that economic growth translates into real improvements in the lives of Nigerians. As the country moves forward, the President’s call for support and cooperation is likely to resonate with Nigerians seeking a more stable and prosperous future.
