Ogbadibo APC chairman raises alarm over alleged manipulation by governor’s aide

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State is embroiled in a controversy over the alleged tampering of the party’s executive list. Honourable Godwin Abah, the APC Chairman for Ehaje Council Ward 1, says the list was altered after it had been affirmed by stakeholders in the presence of security agencies. The dispute began after the suspension of former state chairman Austin Agada, a decision upheld by Governor Hyacinth Alia. Abah claims he played a key role in stabilising the party during that period and helped endorse the current ward and local‑government executives at an expanded stakeholders’ meeting.

According to Abah, Honourable Linda Agada, who chaired the meeting, later changed the list by inserting new names, removing endorsed officials and attempting to replace him as ward chairman. He accuses her of acting out of personal vendetta rather than a genuine interest in party unity and questions her legitimacy to determine party leadership in Ogbadibo, noting that she is not a registered APC member in the area. Abah called on Governor Alia to reassess Agada’s role as Head of Pointsmen in Ogbadibo, arguing that she lacks the temperament and unifying capacity to coordinate party affairs locally.

In response, Honourable Linda Agada dismissed the allegations, describing the APC in Ogbadibo as one of the most united in the state. She said the stakeholders’ meeting aimed to reconcile differences among party leaders and strengthen unity ahead of the 2027 elections. Agada clarified that each ward will handle its internal reconciliation independently, noting that some executives’ tenures or zoning arrangements have expired, while others who have passed away will be replaced in line with party structure. She emphasized her loyalty to Governor Alia and the APC, insisting there is no crisis in Ogbadibo.

The controversy highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the APC in Benue State, particularly in Ogbadibo Local Government Area. The party’s ability to resolve internal conflicts and present a united front will be crucial as the 2027 elections approach. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the party will address the concerns of its members and stakeholders in Ogbadibo.
