Kofa rejoins APC, gets warm welcome at National Assembly

Two Nigerian lawmakers have rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a notable shift in the country’s political landscape. Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, representing the Kiru/Bebeji constituency, and Rt. Hon. Sagir Koki, representing Kano Municipal, announced their return to the party on Thursday.

Jibrin said the duo received a warm welcome from senior APC officials, including Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin, senior Senate and House members, and the President’s Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. Also present were APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and former National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Jibrin expressed gratitude to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and other senior officials, members, and senators for the reception, affirming that they will continue to serve the nation with dedication and commitment.

The lawmakers’ decision to rejoin the APC is expected to influence Nigeria’s political dynamics. As one of the nation’s major parties, the APC has been actively engaging members and stakeholders to strengthen its position ahead of future elections. The return of Jibrin and Koki is seen as a boost to the party’s efforts to consolidate its support base.

As members of the House of Representatives, Jibrin and Koki are poised to play key roles in shaping the legislative agenda. Their move reflects ongoing realignments and negotiations within Nigeria’s political sphere and will be closely watched by observers and analysts as the country navigates its complex landscape. The reunion underscores the fluid nature of political alliances in Nigeria and suggests that, as elections approach, parties will continue strategic maneuvers to position themselves for success. With Jibrin and Koki back in the APC fold, the party can leverage their experience and expertise to advance its goals and objectives.
