The Kaduna State Government has proposed a budget of N985.9 billion for 2026, emphasizing transparent, accountable and people‑centered governance. Governor Uba Sani presented the proposal at a town‑hall meeting attended by representatives from civil society, traditional institutions and the private sector.
The budget allocates N699.7 billion (71 percent) to capital expenditure and N286.2 billion (29 percent) to recurrent spending. Governor Sani described the town‑hall as a democratic forum that allowed public consensus and collective aspiration to shape the budget. Participants praised the strong performance of the 2025 budget, offered recommendations for 2026, and engaged in intellectually rich, constructive discussions.
During the meeting the government also presented a comprehensive two‑year performance scorecard covering key sectors. It pledged to accelerate service delivery, strengthen institutional resilience and deepen citizen participation. The 2026 budget focuses on consolidating rural transformation for inclusive development, with priorities that include expanding rural infrastructure, scaling human‑capital development and ensuring that every community benefits from growth.
The proposal reflects the administration’s effort to promote transparent, accountable governance and to align public finance with public consensus. The government has committed to incorporating the insights and recommendations from the town‑hall into the final budget.
