The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State has warned Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe for allegedly interfering in the party’s affairs. According to the ADC, the senator—who is not a party member—has been convening unauthorized meetings and sponsoring a parallel executive committee that opposes the state leadership.
Publicity Secretary Chiamaka Ohaka said Abaribe’s actions undermine the party’s leadership and instructed him to cease immediately or face legal consequences. The ADC gave the senator 48 hours to remove all affiliated agents and individuals posing as party members in the state. Ohaka emphasized that Abaribe has never obtained a membership form, attended any party meetings, or contributed financially to the ADC’s growth.
Despite this, the party alleges that Abaribe has established fake parallel executives, influenced party officers, and spread false information to create discontent and dismantle the legitimate structure in Abia State. The warning marks a significant development in the ongoing power struggle within the ADC.
The ADC stressed that it will not tolerate external interference and will pursue legal action if necessary to protect its interests. Senator Abaribe’s media aide, Uche Awom, said his principal will not respond to the allegations. Meanwhile, the party’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the constitution and conducting its affairs transparently and democratically.
Political observers in Abia State are closely watching the situation and awaiting Abaribe’s response. The outcome could have significant implications for the ADC’s future and its relationships with other political stakeholders in the state. The party reiterated its determination to protect its integrity and maintain its independence, and the next few days will reveal how the dispute unfolds.
