'You’re not our member’ – Kogi ADC tells Dino Melaye

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State has warned Senator Dino Melaye to stop presenting himself as a member of the party. State ADC Public Relations Officer Tayo John told reporters in Lokoja on Friday that Melaye is not recognized as a party member in Kogi State. John cited Melaye’s repeated interference in party activities and his ongoing criticisms of the ADC as reasons for the warning.

John emphasized that the state ADC executives remain a separate entity and have not merged with individuals like Melaye, who claim party membership. He stated unequivocally that Melaye is not a known member of the ADC in his ward and therefore lacks the identity and authority to speak on behalf of the party in Kogi State. The spokesman characterized Melaye as a social‑media content creator who seeks attention and generates noise rather than engaging in meaningful political activity.

As an individual not recognized by the ADC, Melaye’s actions and statements do not align with the party’s positions, and he has no role in determining its leadership composition. The warning serves as a clarification of Melaye’s status within the party and an assertion of the ADC’s autonomy and decision‑making authority. This development highlights the internal dynamics and conflicts within Nigerian political parties, where issues of membership, leadership, and representation can be complex and contentious. The ADC’s statement may affect Melaye’s political activities and reputation in Kogi State, and it remains to be seen how he will respond. For now, the Kogi State ADC has made it clear that Melaye does not represent the party’s interests or values.
