The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has condemned Governor Ademola Adeleke for traveling abroad while the state grapples with security challenges. In a statement issued by state chairman Tajudeen Lawal, the APC said the governor’s actions reveal a lack of preparedness and competence in governance. The party expressed frustration with Adeleke’s administration, citing persistent missteps and misgovernance since he took office in November 2022.
According to the APC, Governor Adeleke appears more concerned with the prestige of his office than with addressing the state’s needs. The party noted that he has traveled to the United States at least six times this year, including a recent trip to Texas for a birthday event, even as security concerns continue to mount. The APC contrasted this with President Bola Tinubu’s decision to postpone a working visit to South Africa in order to attend to security emergencies in the northern region.
The APC also criticized Adeleke’s handling of local governance, pointing out that grassroots administration has been largely inactive for eight months. Moreover, the party accused the governor of failing to resolve the strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), which has shut courts in the state for over two months, denying justice to millions of residents.
The APC urged citizens to remain vigilant about their safety and to endure until the next governorship election in November 2026. The party’s criticism underscores the ongoing challenges in Osun State and the need for effective governance to address security concerns and provide essential services to residents.
