The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded a series of major drug seizures, recovering large quantities of illicit substances such as tramadol, skunk, and Canadian Loud. According to Femi Babafemi, NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, a suspected trafficker was arrested in Lagos after 139 pouches of Canadian Loud, weighing 71 kg, were seized.

In a separate operation in Lekki, a woman was detained with 2.6 kg of Colorado that had been packaged in branded containers and hidden inside flight boarding cards. Along the Enugu/Onitsha road, operatives intercepted a suspect carrying 10.1 kg of skunk. The agency also recovered 105,600 tramadol pills, 700 ampoules of pentazocine injection, and 3,000 rounds of live ammunition.

Further seizures included 13,155 bottles of codeine‑based syrup removed from a warehouse in Kebbi State, and the arrest of a 23‑year‑old in Borno with 12,548 opioid pills concealed in paracetamol containers. Two suspects were apprehended with 430.5 kg of substances on the Abaji‑Abuja expressway, while another suspect in Niger State was caught with 85,100 opioid pills and 5,456 bottles of codeine syrup.

NDLEA operatives also raided a notorious illicit‑drug enclave on Lagos Island, seizing 385 kg of skunk, Loud and Colorado and arresting two individuals. In another Lagos operation, 163,200 tramadol capsules were recovered.

Beyond enforcement actions, the agency has continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaigns, targeting schools, worship centers and communities nationwide. NDLEA Chairman, retired Brigadier‑General Buba Marwa, praised the officers and men involved in these successful operations and urged them to maintain their efforts against drug abuse. The seizures and arrests underscore the agency’s commitment to curbing the illicit drug trade and reducing the availability of harmful substances in Nigeria, a crucial step toward improving public health and safety.
