Oyo State APC youth leaders have urged Governor Seyi Makinde to prepare for a transition of power, citing residents’ desire for new leadership. The call was made during a press briefing at the APC Secretariat in Ibadan, where State APC Youth Leader Comrade John Aremu emphasized the party’s commitment to reclaiming the state from the current Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration.
Aremu criticized the present government, accusing it of stagnating the state, and expressed the determination of APC youths to bring about the necessary political change. He stressed that they are ready to assume responsibility and provide progressive leadership.
The recent reconciliation between Senator Teslim Folarin and Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu was highlighted as a positive development, signaling renewed unity within the APC. This unity is expected to strengthen the party’s prospects in the 2027 governorship election.
The upcoming APC Youth Summit will focus on restructuring party units, mobilizing grassroots support, and fostering alignment among young members behind a shared progressive vision. The summit will also unveil a strategic roadmap driven by young people, encompassing digital advocacy, political mobilization, community‑engagement projects, and issue‑based campaigns aimed at reclaiming the state.
Comrade Aremu underlined the importance of planning for the future, stating that the youth wing is fully prepared to lead the transformation needed to advance Oyo State’s development agenda. With the 2027 election on the horizon, the APC youth leaders’ call for new leadership reflects residents’ desire for change and a determination to provide an alternative direction for the state, a development that could significantly influence Oyo’s political landscape in the years to come.
