Coalition: ADC presents membership cards to David Mark, Aregbesola

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denied reports that it selected Hon Najeem Salam as its candidate for the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial election. The party’s statement, issued in response to social‑media claims that Salam had emerged as the ADC’s flagbearer for the 2026 governorship race, describes those reports as “false and should be disregarded.”

Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, clarified the situation in a statement on Wednesday. The party has also released a timetable for the primaries to elect its flagbearer and urged all aspirants to follow the guidelines, aiming to ensure a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.

The controversy sparked accusations of betrayal from supporters of another aspirant, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, who voiced disappointment on social media. Nevertheless, the ADC reassured its members and the public that it remains committed to upholding the highest standards of internal democracy.

Given the significance of the Osun State gubernatorial election, the party’s commitment to a transparent process is crucial. The ADC’s primary election is expected to be a key milestone in the lead‑up to the 2026 governorship race, and its actions will be closely watched by members, supporters, and the wider public.

By issuing a statement to address the false reports, the ADC demonstrates its effort to maintain transparency and credibility, aiming to prevent misinformation and speculation that could compromise its internal processes. As the party moves forward with its primary election, it must continue to prioritize fairness, transparency, and accountability to retain the trust of its members and the public.
