NIPOST receives 350 NIN enrollment devices to boost digital inclusion in Nigeria

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has taken a significant step toward enhancing digital inclusion by receiving 350 National Identity Number (NIN) enrollment devices. Donated by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), these devices are expected to boost NIPOST’s capacity to provide accessible NIN registration services across the country, especially in remote and underserved areas.

The Postmaster General and CEO of NIPOST, Tola Odeyemi, accepted the devices from a KOICA delegation led by Country Director Eunsub Kim at NIPOST’s headquarters in Abuja. Odeyemi thanked KOICA and the South Korean government for their support, noting that the equipment will markedly strengthen NIPOST’s ability to offer nationwide NIN registration.

The initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s drive to expand access to essential public services, leveraging NIPOST’s extensive national presence to promote inclusive digital identity enrollment and Nigeria’s broader digital transformation. The devices come pre‑installed with enrollment software, and KOICA will provide training and deployment support to ensure effective use.

Kim highlighted NIPOST’s contribution to national digital development, explaining that South Korea’s assistance is part of an ongoing project titled “Building Foundations Towards Digital Governance in Nigeria.” This project aims to enhance Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and promote inclusion, supporting the country’s development goals.

The introduction of these devices is expected to positively impact Nigeria’s digital landscape by enabling more citizens to access essential services and participate in the digital economy. With the new equipment, NIPOST will be better equipped to reach remote and underserved areas, bridging the digital divide and fostering financial inclusion. The collaboration between NIPOST and KOICA demonstrates how international partnerships can drive digital development and promote economic growth, playing a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s digital future and ensuring that all citizens benefit from digital technology.
