2027: Adamawa ADC calls for united national coalition to defeat APC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a nationwide membership drive, initiating a 90‑day mobilisation, revalidation, and registration exercise. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, announced the initiative in a statement that outlined ADC’s strategic plans to expand and strengthen its grassroots base.

In conjunction with this drive, the ADC has set provisional dates for its internal congresses and the election of delegates at the polling‑unit, ward, and local‑government levels. A circular from National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola indicates that these congresses will be held between 20 – 27 January 2026, culminating in a non‑elective National Convention in February 2026 in Abuja. This schedule is intended to uphold the party’s internal democratic processes in line with its constitution.

The decision follows a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on 27 November 2025. The NWC’s conclusions emphasize the ADC’s commitment to its constitutional obligations and its preparation for upcoming electoral challenges. By revalidating and expanding its membership, the ADC aims to bolster its position in the political landscape and remain a viable, competitive force.

The announcement marks a significant step in revitalising the ADC’s structures and enhancing its nationwide presence. As African political parties continue to evolve, such internal processes are crucial for their viability and relevance. The ADC’s move toward a more inclusive, participatory approach to internal elections reflects a broader trend toward democratisation within parties. The forthcoming congresses and national convention will be pivotal in shaping the party’s trajectory, providing a platform for members to influence decision‑making and elect representatives who will steer the ADC’s future. As these processes unfold, the focus will be on how effectively the party can mobilise its base and capitalise on the momentum generated by the membership drive.
