BREAKING: All Delta PDP Reps defect to APC

A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rasheed Kashamu, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Representing Ijebu North Constituency I, Kashamu announced his decision on the House floor on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences and divisions within the PDP at both state and national levels. He said the party’s factional disputes and leadership tussles prompted his move to the APC.

Kashamu expressed his desire to support Governor Dapo Abiodun’s ISEYA Agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aligning himself with other progressives in the state. After reviewing the current state of the PDP and considering his constituents’ support, he decided to join the APC together with his supporters. He emphasized his commitment to bringing his “winning formula” to the APC and contributing to the party’s efforts to strengthen good governance in Ogun State.

The lawmaker formally notified the House of his resignation from the PDP and his decision to join the APC, a notice read by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide during plenary. Kashamu confirmed that he has registered with the APC at his ward in Oke Sopen, Ijebu‑Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area, and is ready to work with the party to achieve its goals.

This defection may have significant implications for the political landscape in Ogun State, as the APC continues to consolidate its position. With Kashamu’s move, the party could gain greater support in the Ijebu North Constituency, potentially influencing future elections. As political dynamics in the state evolve, it remains to be seen how this development will affect the balance of power in the region.
