Zamfara budget 2026 signed into law by Governor Dauda Lawal

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has signed the 2026 appropriation bill into law, totaling N871.3 billion, following its approval by the state’s legislative assembly. The governor had initially proposed a budget of N861.3 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, which was presented to the state legislature on December 4.

After deliberations, the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation recommended a total estimate of N871.337 billion, citing significant improvements in the revenue profile of most Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Committee Chairman Rilwanu Na-Gambo explained that all MDAs appeared before the committee to defend their proposals, leading to the recommendation of an additional N8 billion for capital expenditure for the Ministry of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, as well as N2 billion for recurrent expenditure for the Zamfara House of Assembly.

The approved budget prioritizes key sectors, including security, agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure, aligning with the strategic priorities of Governor Lawal’s administration. According to Speaker Bilyaminu Isma’il, the budget is designed to meet the needs of citizens at the local government level while promoting equity and inclusion across sectors.

The signing of the budget was attended by top government officials, including Deputy Governor Mani Malam Mumini and Speaker Bilyaminu Isma’il. The approval of the 2026 appropriation bill marks a significant step towards addressing the state’s development needs and promoting economic growth.

The Zamfara State Government’s focus on key sectors is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy and the well-being of its citizens. With the budget now signed into law, the state can move forward with implementing its development plans and addressing the needs of its people. The allocation of funds to key sectors is expected to drive growth and development in the state, with a focus on improving the lives of citizens and promoting economic prosperity.
