A meeting of the National Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently underway at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, presided over by President Bola Tinubu. This gathering marks the party’s second caucus meeting in 2025, following an earlier session held on 25 February, and it is the first since Professor Nentawe Yilwatda assumed the role of APC national chairman in July.

The caucus comes after a recent rescheduling of the party’s National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, which were originally set for 15‑16 December but have been moved to 18‑19 December. The NEC meeting is now slated for Friday at the Presidential Villa.

In attendance are high‑ranking party members, including serving and former governors as well as principal officers of the National Assembly. The APC National Caucus brings together the party’s top leadership to discuss pressing issues and chart its course. Although the agenda has not been publicly disclosed, it is expected to focus on critical matters affecting both the party and the country.

With the recent change in leadership and the upcoming NEC meeting, this gathering is seen as an opportunity for the APC to reassess its priorities and strategize for the future. As the ruling party in Nigeria, the APC’s decisions and actions have significant implications for the nation’s political landscape, and the outcomes of this meeting and the subsequent NEC session will be closely watched by political observers and the public alike.

Since Professor Yilwatda’s emergence as national chairman, the APC has been working to reposition itself, and this caucus represents a crucial step in that process. As the party navigates the complexities of Nigerian politics, its ability to adapt and evolve will be essential for maintaining relevance and influence. With the NEC meeting set for Friday, all eyes will be on the party’s leadership as they address the challenges and opportunities ahead.
