The Taraba State Judicial Service Commission has taken significant steps to reorganize its staff, approving the promotion of 535 personnel and confirming several senior appointments. In a statement released on Sunday in Jalingo, Secretary to the Commission Hajia Talatu Abubakar announced the decisions made during the commission’s 125th meeting, chaired by Chief Judge of Taraba State Justice Joel Agya. The commission unanimously adopted the report of its Promotion Sub‑Committee, leading to the promotion of 535 staff members across various cadres in the Taraba State Judiciary. This move aims to recognize and reward the hard work and dedication of staff, potentially boosting morale and productivity within the judicial system.
In addition to the promotions, the commission addressed disciplinary matters, taking action against two officers. Senior Magistrate II Assauten Abason, on Grade Level 13, was demoted to Senior Registrar on Grade Level 10, effective 19 December 2025. He was also stripped of his judicial functions and recalled to the High Court Headquarters for a period of two years. Another officer, William Jakwanti, was demoted from Registrar I on Grade Level 9 to Assistant Registrar on Grade Level 7, recalled to headquarters, and ordered to refund N40,000 to Musa Audu. These decisions demonstrate the commission’s commitment to maintaining high standards of conduct and discipline within the judiciary.
