FCTA releases hotlines for residents to report uncleared waste

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has launched a new initiative to tackle waste‑management challenges in the nation’s capital. Residents can now report uncollected waste using four dedicated phone lines: 08038643087, 07011073406, 07011255710, and 09114843425. This move aims to improve the effectiveness of sanitation services and ensure that waste‑management contractors fulfill their obligations.

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, explained that the public may forward photos and videos of uncollected refuse to the designated numbers via WhatsApp. Residents should clearly indicate the location of the waste in the images or videos, enabling authorities to identify the responsible contractors and hold them accountable.

The initiative is part of the administration’s broader effort to address growing concerns about waste management in the Federal Capital Territory. By leveraging technology and encouraging community participation, officials hope to enhance overall sanitation and cleanliness. Reporting uncollected waste allows residents to play an active role in maintaining a clean environment, while the authorities use the information to monitor contractor performance and take corrective action when needed.

As the city continues to grow, effective waste management remains a key priority. This program reflects the administration’s commitment to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for all residents.
