Wike’s Kinsmen Endorse Fubara for Second Term

Kinsmen of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, have publicly endorsed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for a second term, ahead of the 2027 general elections. The endorsement took place during the 2025 Eneka Day Celebration, held at State Primary School One in Eneka, with a focus on unity as a catalyst for progress.

The event, which drew community leaders, traditional rulers, and residents from the eleven communities that comprise the Eneka clan in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, saw Wike’s kinsmen reaffirm their support for Governor Fubara. They emphasized that Fubara is the sole occupant of the state’s top office, noting that Wike is no longer the governor.

Lawson Chukwu, Chairman of the Community Development Committee of Eneka, expressed the clan’s unwavering loyalty and support for the governor, acknowledging the administration’s development efforts in the area. Chukwu appealed to Fubara to prioritize the construction of internal roads within the community and requested the upgrade of the Eneka traditional stool from second-class to first-class status.

Senator John Azuta-Mbata, the political leader of Eneka Clan and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, reaffirmed the people’s recognition of Fubara as the legitimate governor of Rivers State. Mbata pledged the clan’s continued friendship and support, describing the relationship as firm and unbroken.

In response, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude for the endorsement and the display of unity by the Eneka people. He assured the community that his administration would focus on restoring their deteriorated internal roads, which were damaged by heavy-duty trucks during flyover construction. Fubara also directed the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs to initiate the process for upgrading the Eneka traditional stool.

The governor emphasized that a peaceful and united community facilitates the delivery of meaningful development without internal conflict. The endorsement and show of support from Wike’s kinsmen underscore the significance of unity in promoting progress and development in the region. As the 2027 general elections approach, the Eneka clan’s public backing of Governor Fubara is likely to have implications for the state’s political landscape.
