2026: Expect more projects of impact - Wike sends new year message to FCT residents

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, pledged to deliver more tangible developments and improvements to the capital city in 2026. In his New Year message to FCT residents, he outlined the administration’s plans to enhance the quality of life through a range of projects and programmes.

Wike said the FCT Administration has already laid the groundwork for initiatives that will drive positive change in key sectors, including education, healthcare, the judiciary, transportation, agriculture and security. He announced that, in the coming year, the government will commission rehabilitated schools, roads, bridges, health facilities, transportation hubs and security infrastructure, among other projects.

The minister acknowledged the cooperation of FCT residents and friends during the previous year, noting that their support contributed to the administration’s achievements. He extended New Year greetings and expressed hope that residents will continue to back the administration’s plans and projections. Wike emphasized that these efforts are aimed at improving the lives of all residents, regardless of social status.

The FCT Administration’s plans form part of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which has already produced significant developments in the territory. Wike highlighted progress in transforming residents’ lives, with notable developments in areas such as Abaji, Kuje and Kwali. He thanked the President for his support and called for continued cooperation as the administration embarks on additional projects.

As the country prepares to mark the President’s third anniversary in office, Wike said the FCT Administration will showcase its achievements and the positive impact of the President’s agenda on residents’ lives. He encouraged citizens to remain law‑abiding and to adopt virtues such as diligence, discipline and determination, which he believes are essential for achieving collective goals. With a focus on delivering tangible developments and improvements, the FCT Administration is poised to make a significant impact on residents’ lives in 2026.
