The Liberty Party has entered the new year with a renewed sense of purpose, unity, and strategic direction, according to its National Chairperson, Representative Rugie Yatu Barry. In a New Year message, Barry described 2025 as a defining chapter in the party’s history, marked by reconciliation, institutional reform, and a renewed commitment to democratic principles. He credited the party’s progress to the leadership of Senator Nyonblee Karnga‑Lawrence, who rebuilt internal cohesion, strengthened grassroots structures, and restored confidence in the party’s vision for transparent and accountable governance.

Barry emphasized that the party is focused on consolidating its gains and expanding its reach, with a mission to keep the voices of ordinary Liberians central to governance. The 2026 agenda includes intensifying engagement with like‑minded institutions, civil society organizations, and community‑based groups to amplify citizen participation. It will also pursue robust policy advocacy centered on legislative reform, fiscal integrity, decentralization, and economic empowerment.

Key milestones in 2025 included a Special National Convention that adopted a new party constitution, elected new leadership, and renewed the party’s sense of unity. The party commemorated International Women’s Day, celebrating its commitment to women’s leadership and gender equity. The 20th anniversary of the party’s founding was marked by unveiling a portrait of its founding father, the late Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, and launching new youth and women’s platforms.

The nationwide restructuring process strengthened county chapters, modernized administrative systems, and introduced monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. Education empowerment initiatives, such as the LP Scholarship 2025 program, supported over 200 grassroots members pursuing higher education and vocational training. The year concluded with nationwide Christmas celebrations, reinforcing the party’s image as a people‑centered institution.

As the party enters 2026, it does so with renewed confidence, strengthened institutions, and a clear vision to advance policies that empower citizens and deepen Liberia’s democratic culture.
