Lagos govt debunks rift between Sanwo-Olu, Abiodun

The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports of a strained relationship between Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu and his Ogun State counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun, calling the claims false and misleading. In a statement, Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, said that the stories circulating on some blogs and online platforms are entirely untrue and do not reflect the actual relationship between the two leaders.

Akosile emphasized that Governors Sanwo‑Olu and Abiodun enjoy a strong, cordial working relationship, marked by regular engagements and constant communication on issues of shared interest. The two governors frequently interact and collaborate on matters that promote development in both Lagos and Ogun states. Their close ties are reinforced by the shared boundaries and socio‑cultural connections between the states, making cooperation inevitable.

The adviser warned individuals and platforms spreading falsehoods to desist from creating unnecessary tension between the leaders. He stressed that both governors remain united by a common goal: improving the welfare and quality of life of residents in their respective states. Lagos and Ogun have a long history of cooperation, particularly in transportation, commerce, and security, owing to their proximity and shared borders.

The rebuttal comes amid speculations and rumors circulating on social media, which can often generate confusion and misinformation. The Lagos State Government’s swift response aims to set the record straight and reassure the public of the positive relationship between the two governors. As neighboring states, Lagos and Ogun have a strong mutual interest in collaborating on regional development initiatives, and their partnership is crucial for the economic growth and prosperity of the region.

The statement reinforces both governors’ commitment to working together to address common challenges and explore opportunities for mutual benefit. With their strong working relationship intact, Governors Sanwo‑Olu and Abiodun are poised to continue collaborative efforts, driving progress and improvement in the lives of their constituents.
