Fayose Claims Wike, Fubara Can’t Secure Rivers for Tinubu

Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, has expressed doubts about the ability of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Governor Siminalayi Fubara to secure Rivers State for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election without electoral manipulation. In a video posted on his Facebook page, Fayose commented on the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, stating that both Wike and Fubara lack the necessary grassroots support to win the state for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a free and fair election.

According to Fayose, the only way the APC can win in Rivers State is through the influence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the police. He alleged that the political feud between Wike and Fubara is driven by a struggle for control of the state’s resources, rather than the interests of Rivers residents. Fayose also claimed that Governor Fubara has accumulated significant savings, which is a major factor in the dispute between the two political leaders.

The presence of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, on the ballot in 2027 is expected to further weaken the chances of the APC in Rivers State, according to Fayose. He dismissed recent political tours and outreach efforts by the rival camps, describing them as ineffective and lacking sufficient voter support. The ongoing political crisis in Rivers State is likely to have significant implications for the 2027 general election, with the APC facing challenges in securing the state’s support.

The relationship between Wike and Fubara has been contentious, with both leaders vying for control of the state’s politics. The dispute has led to a divided APC in Rivers State, with each camp seeking to assert its dominance. As the 2027 general election approaches, the APC will need to address its internal divisions and develop a strategy to win over voters in Rivers State. The election is expected to be highly contested, with the APC facing challenges from other parties, including the Labour Party. The outcome of the election will depend on various factors, including the ability of the parties to mobilize support and the effectiveness of their campaign strategies.
