The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a nationwide electronic membership registration exercise, introducing a digital platform to create a unified register of party members across Nigeria. This initiative aims to modernize the party’s membership database and enhance its internal democratic processes.
In Benue State, preparations for the registration exercise are underway, with the official launch scheduled for Monday, January 12, 2026. Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia will lead the exercise, becoming the first to be enrolled at his polling unit in Mbangur, Mbadede Council Ward, Vandeikya Local Government Area. The event is set to take place at 10 a.m. and will be attended by party officials, including members of the State Caretaker Committee, E-registration Coordinators, and local government chapter chairmen.
The APC has urged all party members, including elders, government officials, and new entrants, to report to their respective wards for registration. The party has emphasized that a National Identification Number (NIN) and Voter’s Identification Number (VIN) are mandatory for the registration process. The exercise is expected to run until the end of January, and only verified, registered members will be eligible to participate in the upcoming APC congresses.
The introduction of the electronic membership registration platform is a significant step towards enhancing the party’s internal democracy and transparency. The new system will enable the APC to maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of its members, facilitating more efficient communication and participation in party activities. With the exercise set to take place across the country, the APC is poised to strengthen its membership base and improve its overall governance structure.
As the registration exercise commences, party members are advised to take advantage of the opportunity to register and participate in the upcoming congresses. The APC’s commitment to modernizing its membership database and enhancing its internal processes is a positive development for the party and its members. The successful implementation of the electronic registration platform will be closely watched, as it has the potential to set a new standard for party membership management in Nigeria.
