PDP in Edo Demands APC Tenebe Probe for Death Threat

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has formally requested that security agencies investigate Jarret Tenebe, the acting chairman of the state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), over an alleged death threat directed at a social media user.

According to reports, Tenebe threatened Blessing P. Agho via Facebook on February 7, 2026, after she criticized Governor Monday Okpebholo. Screenshots of the message, which Agho shared, included phrases such as “Death Awaits You” and a demand for her address or to meet at a specified location in Abuja.

In a statement, the Edo State PDP described the threat as “reckless, thuggish and openly murderous.” The party asserted that no citizen should fear speaking out and called for Tenebe’s prosecution. It also urged President Bola Tinubu to publicly dissociate himself from such conduct, warning that the President’s silence would be interpreted as endorsement.

The PDP linked the incident to a broader pattern of intolerance, stating that the Edo APC has replaced political persuasion with coercion and intimidation. The party framed the threat as an assault on democratic rights and free expression.

The development heightens political tensions in Edo State. Security agencies have yet to publicly comment on the PDP’s demand for an investigation. The alleged threat underscores concerns about political discourse and personal safety ahead of future electoral cycles in the region.
