Ndume Slams ADC Disunity, No 2027 Tinubu Strategy

Ndume Confident of APC’s 2027 Retention, Criticizes Opposition Strategy

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has expressed strong confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will retain power beyond the 2027 presidential election. The senator argued that major opposition figures from the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—specifically Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi—have failed to articulate novel strategies capable of defeating President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ndume stated he was “not worried” by the opposition’s activity. “Everybody is talking about it; it’s either Bola Ahmed Tinubu or Atiku or Amaechi or Peter Obi. I don’t see anything that they have presented,” he remarked, suggesting a lack of substantive policy or electoral innovation from the ADC’s prominent chieftains.

He pointed to internal divisions within the opposition coalition as a critical weakness. While acknowledging Tinubu as the incumbent “driving” the nation’s agenda, Ndume noted the ADC’s inconsistent presence and apparent focus on individual ambitions over collective purpose. “When you see people focusing on gaining power for themselves, it’s not a big deal,” he added, implying this disunity undermines their viability.

Despite his criticism, Ndume cautioned against underestimating any contender, drawing a historical parallel. He recalled how the then-ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) initially dismissed the APC as unserious before President Muhammadu Buhari eventually won power after multiple attempts. “So, I’m not writing about Obi or Amaechi off,” he stated, while maintaining that the opposition “haven’t been able to get their house in order” despite having strong personalities.

The senator’s comments underscore the APC’s projected narrative of continuity and organizational strength as it looks toward the 2027 elections. His assessment highlights the challenges facingNigeria’s opposition in consolidating a unified front and presenting a compelling alternative to the incumbent administration, setting the stage for a politically charged contest in the coming years.
