African Democratic Congress Affirms Prof. Pat Utomi as Leader of Delta State Coalition
The Delta State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially confirmed Professor Pat Utomi as the recognized leader of the state’s political coalition. This clarification aims to resolve internal ambiguities and provide clear direction for party members and the public.
According to a formal statement dated March 25, 2026, and signed by Engr. Austin Okolie, the ADC Chairman in Delta State, the announcement became necessary to address growing concerns over the coalition’s leadership structure. “For the avoidance of doubt, Professor Pat Utomi is the duly recognized Leader of the Delta State Coalition,” the statement declared.
The party underscored Utomi’s extensive political pedigree as a foundational reason for his position. It noted his historic role as the ADC’s presidential candidate in the 2007 general election, as well as his prior service as a senior adviser to the late President Shehu Shagari in 1983 and various high-level executive roles within the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The statement also acknowledged the political stature of Chief Great Ogboru, describing him as a “respected and prominent figure” within Delta State politics and the broader coalition. However, it explicitly clarified that Ogboru does not hold the title of Delta State Coalition Leader, drawing a clear distinction between general influence and formal authority.
The ADC urged all members, stakeholders, and the public to adhere to this clarification in all official engagements and communications regarding the party in Delta State. The statement further announced the permanent state office address as No. 1 Midwifery Market Road, Asaba, to centralize official correspondence.
