March Premier League Goal of the Month: Iwobi’s Fulham Strike

Alex Iwobi’s long-range strike for Fulham against Tottenham Hotspur has been nominated for the Premier League’s March Goal of the Month award, highlighting the Nigeria international’s impactful performance in London.

The goal, scored in the 34th minute of Fulham’s 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage, saw Iwobi control a deflection before firing a side-footed shot from outside the box into the net. It was his fourth league goal of the season for Marco Silva’s side and a key moment in a vital win for the mid-table club. Iwobi’s overall contribution this campaign also includes three assists in 23 Premier League appearances, demonstrating his versatility in midfield. In addition to the Goal of the Month nomination, he is also in contention for the Premier League Player of the Month award for March.

Iwobi is joined on the Goal of the Month shortlist by Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Elliott Anderson (Newcastle United), William Osula (Sheffield United), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City), Iliman Ndiaye (Sheffield United), and John McGinn (Aston Villa). The winner will be determined by a combination of a public vote and a selection from an expert panel, with fans invited to choose their favourite from the seven nominated strikes.

This nomination underscores Iwobi’s consistent output for Fulham since his move from Arsenal. His goal against Tottenham was not only a moment of individual quality but also contributed to a significant result in Fulham’s season. The final decision on the March award will be announced later this month, following the conclusion of the fan voting period. The recognition places Iwobi alongside other notable scorers from across the division for one of the season’s most memorable finishes.
