APC National Chairman Re-elected, Vows Unity After Tinubu Mandate

APC National Chairman Vows Unity and Steady Progress After Re-election

Abuja — Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda has been re-elected and sworn in as National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to lead the party with unity and resolve. His acceptance follows a national convention held in Abuja late Friday, where the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) was also constituted through a consensus arrangement.

In his speech, Yilwatda directly addressed President Bola Tinubu, party leaders, and members, assuring them that the newly elected leadership would meet expectations. “I give you a clear and bold assurance that we will not falter,” he stated. “Together, we will step forward to be counted when it matters most.” He urged all members and supporters to remain steadfast and united, arguing that a cohesive party would ensure “steady and enduring” progress and secure future victories.

The chairman expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu and other party leaders for the mandate. He acknowledged the significant responsibility now Shouldered by the NWC, saying the burden of leadership extends to millions of members across every ward and state in Nigeria. “I will take it with gratefulness,” he affirmed, noting an awareness of historical expectations and the urgency of the moment.

The consensus selection of the NWC is seen as an effort to maintain internal cohesion within the APC as it prepares for future electoral challenges. Yilwatda’s re-election underscores a continuity in the party’s top echelon under President Tinubu’s administration.

By emphasising unity and steady progress, the new APC leadership aims to consolidate the party’s position and address internal and national challenges. The convention’s outcome and Yilwatda’s inaugural remarks signal a focused term ahead, with the chairman’s commitment to collective action framed as central to the party’s strategy.
