The Nigeria Football Federation has moved the final round of the U‑23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Guinea from Ibadan to Abuja. The match, originally set for the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, will now be played on Wednesday, 22 March, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The return leg is scheduled for 27 March in Guinea.
The Olympic Eagles previously secured a 2‑0 victory over Tanzania in the second leg of their last qualifying round, also in Ibadan. After that win, they returned to Abuja, where they are currently based and finalising preparations for the Guinea clash. Minister of Youth and Sports Sunday Dare had previously announced Lekan Salami Stadium as the U‑23 team’s base for the 2024 Olympic qualifying campaign.
In a statement released by the NFF’s Director of Media and Communications on Thursday, it was confirmed that the fixture will take place in Abuja, just two days before the senior Super Eagles host Guinea Bissau in a 2023 AFCON qualifier at the same venue. Head coach Salisu Yusuf has called up a 30‑player squad, all of whom are training in Abuja.
The winner of the two‑legged tie will advance to the finals of the Africa U‑23 Cup of Nations, to be hosted by Morocco in June. That tournament will also determine Africa’s representatives for the men’s football event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
