ADC Imo State Re-elects Former Chairman, Executive Members

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has re-elected its former State Chairman, James Okoroma, along with 15 members of the previous State Executive, following a voice vote at the party’s State Congress held at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Arena in Owerri.

The re-elected executive members include Deputy State Chairman Demian Ezeagu, State Publicity Secretary Macdonald Amadi, State Legal Adviser Barr. Kissinger Ikeokwu, and chairmen representing the three geopolitical zones of the state. The congress was overseen by a committee led by Okem UK from ADC’s national headquarters.

Former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, speaking at the event, expressed satisfaction with the turnout of party delegates from all 27 local government areas. He noted that the party has already registered over 200,000 members and assured that membership drives would continue beyond the congresses.

Another former governor of the state, Achike Udenwa, commended delegates and party members for their orderly conduct. He described ADC as one of the country’s well-organised and recognised political parties, adding that it remains open to new members. Udenwa attributed the smooth conduct of the State Congress to the successful organisation of earlier ward and local government area congresses across the state.

In his acceptance speech, Okoroma thanked party leaders and members for entrusting him with another term in office. He pledged to serve with integrity and dedication, aiming to strengthen the party’s position and secure electoral victories in the state. “With the leadership of two former governors, there is no reason the party cannot lay a solid foundation in Imo State,” he said.

The re-election of the State Executive signals continuity in leadership and sets the stage for the party’s strategic planning ahead of future elections in the state.
