Energia Limited, a Nigerian energy company, has appointed Oladimeji Bashorun as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the departure of Chidi Egonu. Bashorun, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer, brings over two decades of experience in the oil and gas sector to the role.

Prior to joining Energia, Bashorun held technical and leadership positions at Shell Petroleum Development Company and Sahara Upstream, where he contributed to operational leadership, asset management, and initiatives aimed at improving operational stability and performance.

During his tenure as COO, Bashorun oversaw the company’s operations, driving efficiency and supporting its long-term growth strategy. His appointment as CEO marks a continuation of his strategic and operational leadership within the organisation.

George Osahon, Chairman of Energia, expressed confidence in Bashorun’s leadership, stating, “Oladimeji Bashorun has demonstrated exceptional leadership and deep industry expertise during his time as Chief Operating Officer. His commitment to operational excellence and strategic growth has been instrumental to Energia’s progress. The Board is confident that under his leadership, the company will continue to strengthen its position as a key player in the industry while delivering sustained value to its stakeholders.”

Bashorun welcomed the new role, saying, “I am honoured to assume the position of Chief Executive Officer of Energia. Working closely with a talented team that drives the company’s success, I look forward to building on our achievements and advancing Energia’s commitment to operational excellence, responsible energy development, and value creation for our stakeholders.”

Under Bashorun’s leadership, Energia plans to focus on strengthening operational performance, expanding strategic opportunities, and contributing to Nigeria’s energy security. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship and community development.

Energia Limited is part of the broader energy sector in Nigeria, which plays a critical role in the country’s economy. The appointment of Bashorun comes at a time when the industry is navigating challenges and opportunities in the global energy landscape.
