Nigerian Army Arrests Terrorists, Rescues Kidnap Victims Nationwide

Nigerian Troops Record Successes in Nationwide Offensive Against Terrorists and Criminals

The Nigerian Army has reported significant achievements in its ongoing nationwide offensive operations against terrorist and criminal elements, according to an operational report released in Abuja.

In Kwara State, troops from Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD rescued kidnapped victims after engaging suspected kidnappers in a forest, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee. Meanwhile, in Kogi State, soldiers under Operation MESA apprehended two suspected terrorists during raids on hideouts in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area. The operation at Kakuma and Ijumu communities yielded the recovery of four motorcycles and two chainsaw machines, with suspects and items handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation.

Troops at Forward Operating Base Afaka in Kaduna State’s Igabi Local Government Area also arrested a suspected terrorist. Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect had fled a terrorist camp following internal clashes between rival leaders identified as Dogo Gide and Kabiru along the Kachia–Kagarko–Chikun axis.

In the North East, Operation HADIN KAI forces continued pressuring terrorist elements, detecting and safely disposing of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) while conducting offensive operations under Operation Desert Sanity V. The North West saw Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops responding to attacks and engaging armed groups across Sokoto and Zamfara States, forcing their withdrawal while rescue efforts for abducted victims continued.

Lagos-based Operation MESA troops arrested 15 suspects in Ibeju-Lekki over alleged involvement in illegal oil siphoning, recovering vehicles, a speedboat engine, pumping machines, and hoses. In the South East, Operation UDO KA forces, collaborating with police and vigilantes, encountered multiple IEDs during a patrol in Anambra State, engaging armed elements and forcing their withdrawal.

The South-South region witnessed intensified anti-criminality operations, including arrests and disruption of illegal bunkering and drug trafficking activities.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations, dismantling terrorist enclaves, and ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the country.
