APC 2027 Elections: Presidential Form N100M, Governorship N50M

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its 2027 election timetable, setting the stage for its internal primaries and candidate selection process. The ruling party has pegged the cost of nomination forms at N100 million for presidential aspirants and N50 million for those seeking the governorship ticket.

The sale of forms will commence at the APC National Secretariat from Saturday, April 25, to Saturday, May 2, 2026. The party’s primary elections are scheduled to take place between May 15 and May 23, 2026, with the presidential primary set for May 15–16, the Senate primary on May 20, and the governorship primary on May 23.

The party has also outlined the costs for other elective positions: N6 million for House of Assembly aspirants, N10 million for House of Representatives candidates, and N20 million for Senate hopefuls.

This announcement comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections. The APC, which has been in power since 2015, faces mounting pressure to retain its dominance amid growing opposition from rival parties and internal dissent.

The high cost of nomination forms has sparked debate, with critics arguing that it could limit participation to wealthy individuals and entrench the influence of money in Nigerian politics. Supporters, however, contend that the fees are necessary to ensure that only serious and financially capable candidates contest.

As the political landscape heats up, the APC’s timetable sets a clear roadmap for its members and signals the beginning of a competitive race for the party’s tickets. With the 2027 elections still years away, the coming months will likely see increased activity as aspirants position themselves for the primaries and the broader electoral battle ahead.
