The New Orleans Saints released three veteran players on Monday to open roster spots for recent draft additions. The team confirmed the waivers of running back Evan Hull, wide receiver Samori Toure and wide receiver Elijah Cooks.
Hull appeared in six games last season, recording 19 carries for 48 yards and a single six‑yard reception. Cooks spent the majority of the 2023‑24 season on the Saints’ practice squad before joining the Jaguars, where he logged three catches for 38 yards in 11 games. The same day the club also announced the release of Toure, a veteran receiver who was previously listed among the cuts.
The moves clear space for the rookie class acquired in the 2024 NFL Draft. New Orleans selected running back Jordyn Tyson with the eighth overall pick and added wide receivers Bryce Lance and Barion Brown in later rounds. With the departures, the Saints’ backfield now includes veterans Travis Etienne, Alvin Kamara, Ty Chandler, Devin Neal, Kendre Miller, Audric Estime and rookie CJ Donaldson.
By trimming the roster, the Saints align their 53‑man squad with the influx of young talent and maintain depth at key positions. The adjustments also reflect the organization’s commitment to developing its 2024 draft picks while preserving experienced contributors. The team will finalize its roster ahead of training camp, where the newly assembled group will compete for playing time.
