Carter Efe Beats Portable in Easy Victory, Wins ₦50M

Carter Efe defeats Portable to claim N50 million title at Lagos boxing event

Nigerian skit maker and livestreamer Carter Efe unseated the reigning champion, singer Portable, at the “Chaos in the Ring 4” celebrity boxing showcase on Friday night. The bout, staged at Balmoral Hall in the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, concluded with Efe winning by unanimous decision and walking away with a ₦50 million cash prize.

The three‑round fight was judged 30‑27 in favour of Efe by all three officials, securing his victory on points. In a post‑match press conference, Efe described his performance as effortless, likening his new status to that of an international boxing star. “My new name is Carter Mayweather,” he said. “The fight was so easy. In the first round I already damaged his face. In the second round he was shaking. In the third round he fainted.”

Portable, who entered the contest as the defending champion, was unable to recover during the contest. According to Efe, he managed to “damage Portable’s face” early in the fight, which contributed to the opponent’s diminished condition by the second round.

“Feeling like an international world star,” Efe added, emphasizing his confidence after the decisive win. The victory marks Efe’s first major boxing title and positions him among the growing list of Nigerian entertainers crossing into the sport.

The “Chaos in the Ring” series, organized by celebrity boxing promoter Frank Mason, aims to blend entertainment with competitive boxing, attracting high‑profile personalities from music, comedy and digital media. Previous editions have featured mixed outcomes, but Efe’s swift victory stands out for the dominant scorecards and the sizable prize money awarded.

The win carries financial and promotional significance. The ₦50 million prize, equivalent to roughly US$65,000, underscores the increasing commercial appeal of celebrity boxing in Nigeria and the broader West African market. Organisers expect the success of this event to spur additional sponsorship and media interest in future installments.

Carter Efe’s next steps remain unconfirmed, though he hinted at pursuing further high‑profile matches. Portable’s team has not released an official statement regarding a potential rematch. The “Chaos in the Ring” franchise is slated to continue later this year, with additional celebrity participants expected to sign up for upcoming bouts.
