Benue South African Democratic Congress (ADC) stakeholders and aspirants reaffirmed their unity and preparedness for the upcoming election cycle during a strategic meeting at the party’s zonal headquarters in Otukpo on Thursday.
The high‑level gathering brought together candidates contesting seats in the State House of Assembly, the Federal House of Representatives, the Senate and the governorship, representing all nine local government areas of Benue South. The agenda focused on the formal unveiling of the aspirants, coordination of grassroots mobilisation and the development of a unified roadmap for the 2027 elections.
National Chairman David Mark addressed the assembly, assuring members that recent legal challenges would not impede the party’s performance. “The ADC remains firmly positioned for success and will be on the ballot for all forthcoming elections,” Mark said.
Sir John Ngbede, a senior party leader, described the meeting as “timely and strategic” as the ADC prepares for the 2027 election cycle. He emphasized the party’s focus on consolidating internal cohesion, reviewing ongoing grassroots efforts and mapping a clear strategic path ahead of upcoming political engagements.
Key participants included State Party Chairman Rt. Hon. Samson Okwu, Secretary of the State Leadership Team Prof. David Salifu, senatorial aspirant Dr. David Olofu, and notable figures such as Chris Adaba Abah and Mrs. Abeje Egwa. Throughout the session, delegates engaged in robust deliberations on party unity, grassroots mobilisation and strategic positioning, underscoring a collective resolve to expand the ADC’s influence in the zone.
The unveiling of the aspirants was highlighted as a symbol of cohesion and renewed optimism. Candidates from the nine local government areas presented their platforms, signaling readiness to contest elections at multiple levels. Party officials noted that the event also served to streamline communication channels between the national leadership and state structures, facilitating a coordinated campaign effort.
The Benue South ADC meeting reflects the party’s broader nationwide strategy to strengthen its electoral base ahead of the 2027 general elections. By consolidating leadership, aligning candidate selection and intensifying grassroots engagement, the ADC aims to translate its growing regional presence into tangible electoral gains. The party’s next steps include rolling out targeted mobilisation drives, finalising campaign logistics and maintaining the momentum generated by the Otukpo gathering.
