Gabriel Agbonlahor says Arsenal Still Set for PL Title

Former Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor forecast that Arsenal will retain the Premier League title even if they slip up against West Ham on Sunday. Speaking on talkSPORT, the former striker argued that Manchester City are unlikely to win all of their remaining games and therefore cannot count on a points‑free run to clinch the championship.

City’s recent form adds weight to Agbonlahor’s assessment. On Monday they were held to a 3‑3 draw at Everton, a result secured by Jeremy Doku’s last‑minute equaliser. “If the match had ended in an Everton win I would have said it was over, but Doku’s goal kept us in contention,” Agbonlahor said.

The upcoming West Ham encounter represents a significant test for Arsenal, who sit on the league’s summit. Agbonlahor highlighted the importance of the fixture for the Hammers, noting that it is “one of the biggest games of West Ham’s last ten years.” He warned that the club can make Arsenal’s title chase difficult, adding: “There is no reason why West Ham can’t get a draw. Don’t get me wrong, it will be difficult.”

Should West Ham manage at least a point, Agbonlahor believes the title race will remain open. “If they draw this weekend, then it’s back on,” he said, referring to Arsenal’s pursuit of the championship.

The former striker also expressed the view that Manchester City are likely to drop more points in the remaining fixtures. He identified several of City’s upcoming opponents—Crystal Palace, Brentford, Aston Villa and Bournemouth—as potential hurdles. “They’ve got Crystal Palace, they’ve got Brentford who are fighting for European football, they’ve got Aston Villa and Bournemouth – that will be a tough run,” Agbonlahor explained.

Agbonlahor’s comments come as Arsenal prepare to travel to the London Stadium, where they will need at least a win to maintain pressure on City. Meanwhile, Manchester City’s schedule includes matches against teams already positioned for European competition, suggesting a challenging path to an unblemished record.

The upcoming weekend fixtures will therefore be pivotal in shaping the final stages of the 2023‑24 Premier League season. Arsenal’s result at West Ham and Manchester City’s performance against their upcoming opponents will determine whether the title race remains contested or tilts decisively in favour of one club. Media Talk Africa will continue to monitor the outcomes and provide updates on the championship battle.
