The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command announced that Linda Ameh, a lawyer and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was reported missing on 6 May 2026, has been located in Abuja.
In a statement released on Sunday, spokesperson Josephine Adeh said Ameh turned herself in at the Maitama Police Station after being found. She is presently assisting investigators with information pertaining to the disappearance.
Ameh, 25, was last seen at approximately 5:40 p.m. on 6 May after completing her shift at Blades and Butchers Ltd in Maitama. She was heading toward Life Camp when her mobile phone became unreachable. Family members reported several unsuccessful attempts to contact her before receiving messages from individuals claiming to have abducted her and demanding a ransom of ₦20 million.
The police have not confirmed whether any payment was made. They confirmed that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the alleged abduction.
Following the report of her disappearance, the FCT Police launched an investigation and commenced a search for Ameh. Her family, colleagues and members of the public expressed concern over the incident, which occurred while she was close to completing her mandatory NYSC programme and Community Development Service.
Authorities indicated that Ameh’s cooperation is expected to aid the investigation, and security operatives are intensifying efforts to locate any suspects involved. The police continue to pursue leads and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
The resolution of Ameh’s case underscores the importance of swift police response in missing‑person investigations and highlights ongoing concerns about kidnapping for ransom in the capital. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
