On the morning of May 10, 2026, troops from the Army’s Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) apprehended three suspects accused of aiding terrorist elements during a coordinated raid in the Karim‑Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State. The operation, carried out by OPWS Sector 3 units based in Jimilari, began around 6:10 a.m. after intelligence officials alerted authorities to criminal activities in the communities of Binari, Chibi and Andamin. Acting on this information, soldiers entered the three villages and successfully located and detained individuals believed to be providing logistical support to armed groups operating in the area.
Security sources cited by analyst Zagazola Makama say the three detainees are suspected of facilitating the movement and supply of terrorists active in the Karim‑Lamido region. Military officials have confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to determine the extent of their involvement and any potential connections to broader criminal networks. In a statement, the Directorate of Operations for OPWS reaffirmed its commitment to conducting clearance operations and intelligence‑driven raids in vulnerable communities.
