The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Mr. Abel Enitan, has pledged that the ministry’s management is fully prepared to support the assignment of the Transition Technical Task Team (TTTT) of the Presidential Transition Council for the 2023 transition process. This assurance was conveyed by Bolaji Kazeem, Head of the Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Police Affairs, in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Tuesday night.
During an interactive session with the TTTT, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Policy and Development, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, Mr. Enitan emphasized that the ministry is ready to facilitate the TTTT’s work by ensuring the timely submission of its report. He noted that the ministry possesses both human and material resources necessary to make this support a reality. Enitan also highlighted the ministry’s mandate to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians, while providing a conducive environment for socio‑economic development and sustainable livelihoods.
The Permanent Secretary further explained that the Ministry of Police Affairs has formulated and implemented policies, standards, and practices, and has promoted institutions for the training and development of a professionalised Nigeria Police Force. He recalled directives from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to support the 2023 Presidential Transition, tasked with collating information on all policies and analysing key sector programmes and projects implemented from 2015 to date.
In his presentation, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan noted that Executive Order No. 14 of 2023, signed by the President on February 9, 2023, provides the legal framework for facilitating and managing presidential transitions at the federal level. He identified two key documents for the 2023 transition: a compendium of policies, programmes, and projects delivered to implement the nine priority areas of the Federal Government, and an objective assessment of reform status for the incoming administration.
Lead sector expert Dr. Kabir Adamu reiterated the need to finish strong, preserve all reform efforts through proper documentation, and provide an objective assessment for the next administration to build upon. He added that the ministry is expected to collate policies implemented during the current administration, assess their implementation status, and furnish verifiable evidence to support performance data.
