The All Progressives Congress has completed the full upload of its governorship and state assembly candidates onto the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Candidate Nomination Portal ahead of the 2027 general Elections. National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda announced the milestone in a statement released on Friday, confirming that all 56 governorship and deputy governorship tickets, alongside 1,015 State House of Assembly candidates, have been successfully submitted.
Yilwatda described the completion as a proof of the party’s organisational capacity and readiness for the electoral process. “This milestone reflects the organisational strength of our great party,” he said, while congratulating party leaders, members, and candidates across the country. The successful submission marks the conclusion of a critical administrative phase, allowing the ruling party to pivot toward direct voter engagement.
With the nomination window closed, the APC said it will now focus on mobilising support for its candidates nationwide. Party officials indicated that the campaign strategy will centre on highlighting the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration as a basis for seeking renewed mandate at the subnational level. The leadership framed the early completion as a signal of internal cohesion and operational discipline, contrasting it with past cycles where last-minute submissions created logistical pressure.
INEC’s portal remains the sole official channel for candidate validation, and timely uploads reduce the risk of technical disputes or disqualifications. Analysts note that the APC’s ability to finalise its list across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory suggests a coordinated structure ahead of what is expected to be a highly contested election season.
The party’s next steps include rolling out grassroots outreach programmes, town hall meetings, and digital engagement targeting key demographics. While the opposition parties are still finalising their nominations, the APC’s early compliance positions it to control the early narrative. However, political observers caution that administrative efficiency alone will not determine outcomes, as voter sentiment will ultimately hinge on governance records, security, and economic conditions in the lead-up to the polls.
