The Bauchi State Police Command has assured residents of comprehensive security coverage for the local government Elections scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2026. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu gave the commitment in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, and released to journalists on Saturday.
The command said it had finalized detailed security arrangements to ensure the polls remain peaceful, credible and free from disruption across all 20 local government areas. Police personnel have been deployed to strategic locations throughout the state to protect lives, property and election materials.
Authorities warned against electoral violence, ballot box snatching, thuggery, vote buying and selling, voter intimidation and any other actions that could interfere with the process. “Perpetrators, sponsors, and their accomplices, irrespective of status or affiliation, will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly,” the statement read.
The commissioner further pledged that officers assigned to election duty would conduct themselves with professionalism and neutrality, uphold human rights and operate strictly within the law. He urged eligible voters to turn out without fear and encouraged residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through official emergency lines.
The command reiterated its commitment to maintaining a secure environment throughout the entire electoral period.
