Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State after his polling unit was lost to the Peoples Democratic Party in both the presidential and governorship elections. The party claimed that Mustapha did not contribute to the victories of its presidential and governorship candidates.
The suspension was announced at a press conference in Yola by the chairman of Gwadabawa Ward, who said Mustapha was not committed to the APC’s success in the presidential election. He described the indefinite suspension as a response to complaints from his ward and emphasized that no individual is above the party that gave them a platform.
However, the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party, led by acting Chairman Chief Samaila Tadawus, quickly declared the suspension “unconstitutional, null and void, and of no effect.” The Adamawa State APC SWC also directed the local government executive committee of Yola North to form a disciplinary committee to investigate the matter and recommend appropriate action.
Party secretary Dr. Raymond Chidama, speaking on behalf of the SWC at the party secretariat, criticized party members he said were being sponsored by “opposition elements within the party with malicious intent to attack elders of the party.” He warned that such actions flagrantly disregard the party’s constitution. Chidama reiterated that the suspension is unconstitutional and void, and warned that ward executives who continue to target party elders will face sanctions after thorough investigations.
