The Kaduna State Government warned on Thursday against any civil unrest following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration that All Progressives Congress governorship candidate Uba Sani had won the election. State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan issued a terse statement, noting that the government possessed a credible intelligence report indicating that some politicians were planning to sponsor unrest in the state.

Aruwan said the government was closely monitoring the situation in coordination with security agencies. He emphasized that anyone—individuals or groups—found behind a breakdown of law and order would not be spared, and that the full weight of the law would be applied to those who threaten life or destroy property. The suspension of street protests or processions remains in effect in the public interest.

The commissioner also urged parents, guardians and community leaders to educate their children and wards, warning them not to be used by persons seeking to exploit vulnerable emotions and volatile atmospheres to generate chaos.
