The Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, has congratulated the Kano state governor-elect, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, on his victory in the March 18 governorship election.

A statement by Abubakar Kofar-Naisa, spokesman for Kano Emirate Council, said the emir passed the congratulatory message in a letter signed by him.

He said the first-class emir noted that people of Kano had accepted the democratic system of government, adding that, “this is very important looking how they came out en masse to cast their votes as provided by the constitution”.

According to the statement, Mr Bayero also called on the new governor-elect to carry everyone along in running the government as “doing so will help to improve lives and bring economic growth”.

“Emir Bayero also thanked Islamic scholars, priests and members of the communities for all the prayers they offered for peace, before, during and after the elections.

“He further wished for lasting peace and stability in Kano state as well as other parts of the country.

“He prayed to Almighty Allah for the successful completion of his tenure as well as the development of his government and the development of the economy of Kano state,” the statement concluded.
