Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has urged governorship aspirants on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform to focus on their strengths in wooing party members ahead of the primary election scheduled for April. He warned against divisive tendencies that could jeopardise the party’s interests and undermine the peace and unity that the ruling party has been known for in the state under his leadership.
In a statement released Saturday morning and signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Bello specifically responded to the ongoing debate about the alleged suspension of APC National Working Committee member Hon. Murtala Yakubu. While wishing all aspirants a successful screening exercise, he reiterated that the party would ensure a fair playing field for the best candidate to emerge in the primary.
The governor expressed confidence that the APC would win the governorship election with a wide margin in November. He concluded by urging all aspirants to refrain from bickering and to prioritize the party’s unity and success in the forthcoming contests.
