Luanda — Angola’s Minister of Energy and Waters, João Baptista Borges, announced that the country plans to export green hydrogen in 2025, using ammonium—a highly valuable product for agriculture. Speaking at the 9th Energy Transition Dialogue in Berlin on March 28‑29, Borges highlighted the potential for job creation through a new hydrogen industry. He noted that Angola can leverage the human capital and expertise of its oil sector to develop this emerging field.

During the dialogue, Borges took part in a panel titled “Industry Decarbonization – Success Stories and Challenges of the Global Hydrogen Economy.” He also held two meetings with the heads of Commerzbank and ILF, accompanied by Angola’s ambassador to Germany, Balbina da Silva.

The event, held under the motto “Energiewende – Securing Green Future,” attracted at least 2,000 participants from more than 130 countries, including 50 ministers of foreign affairs and energy, secretaries of state, and 100 speakers. Established in 2015, the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue has become one of the world’s leading forums on the global energy transition. It is a joint initiative of German institutions such as the Federation of Renewable Energies, the Solar Association, and the Energy Agency, with support from the German federal government.
