The management of Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, announced that the institution has achieved full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for all 24 programmes submitted for the November/December 2022 accreditation exercise. Vice‑Chancellor Prof Nlerum Okogbule made the announcement at a media briefing marking the start of academic activities in the university’s satellite campuses. He emphasized that the university scored 100 percent in the NUC assessment, securing full accreditation for every programme presented.

Prof Okogbule highlighted several of the accredited programmes, including Architecture, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, History and Diplomatic Studies, Medicine and Surgery, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Economics, Mass Communication, and Political Science, among others. He also confirmed that academic activities have now commenced at the satellite campuses located in Ahoada, Emuoha, and Etche.

Commending Governor Nyesom Wike for his vision in approving the locations of these satellite campuses, the Vice‑Chancellor noted that the new facilities will promote development in the surrounding communities. He assured students that robust security measures are being implemented to prevent any untoward incidents. “We are in touch with the Commissioner of Police and security agencies to ensure regular patrols in these areas,” he said, adding that the recently completed police formations near the Etche, Ahoada, and Emuoha campuses will enhance internal security arrangements coordinated by university management and the local communities.

Prof Okogbule stressed that security is a collective responsibility, urging students to remain vigilant and avoid activities that could attract criminal elements, especially given the broader security challenges facing the region.
