Rivers United hopeful to double over ASEC Mimosa — Onoja

Rivers United midfielder, Joseph Onoja says the team is looking forward to beating Cote d’Ivoire ASEC Mimosa again.

The Nigerian champions defeated the Ivorians 3-0 when both teams met earlier in the group.

Malachi Ohawume, Ukeme Williams and Denis Ndasi were on target for the Pride of Rivers in the game.

There is little to play for this time around with both teams already through to the quarter-finals.

They are tied on 10 points with Rivers United having a better goal difference.

Onoja stated that the team is desperate to finish top of the group.

“We are in high spirits and not under pressure, we aim to make sure we top the group, ” Onoja said ahead of the game.

“We played them in Nigeria, and we beat them but this is their ground and we just have to make sure we play ourselves out and make sure we get the three points.”
